Moffat Takadiwa
“Judging by Language’ (2017) is an object sculpture made of post-consumer e-waste materials: computer keys.
The artwork ,hung on the white background of a gallery wall, has an imposing presence due to its format (230 x 185 x 30 centimeters), dramatic in its form, a heterogeneous white and centered of an intriguing black circle, it is found almost both bold and bizarre. Takadiwa’s work is highly textural and appear to have been woven together resembling Zimbabwean textile. Inspired by the work of Kenyan writer Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o, the artist explores within this creation the relationship between language and cultural dominance.
