Haifa Ouerfelli
Haifa Ouerfelli explores the interaction of light, color, and motion in 3d installations and interventions. She works with broken and discarded materials like glass, mirrors or in this case with CDs. She directs projected light and imageries towards uneven shapes of reflecting surfaces. Organized in clusters or bundles they alter and further the luminous image onto the environmental architecture.
Her latest work is based on CDs. Due to a short life-span of two to maximum ten years, CDs add to the e-waste problem. As any optical media, they are susceptible to damage because there is little protection on the readable surface. As a data storage they will become soon obsolete, as an optical material with unique projection and color rendering properties they can be used as artistic material. A first result of a series of experimentation will be on display from 12 to 20 March 2021 in Dar Lasram, in the Medina of Tunis.
