GUIDING INTEREST

Nick Gentry is  continuously  interested in  the theme of consumerism and technological development and uses recycling as his method to create artistic responses facing those topics. He employs recycled material as the starting point and background  for his artworks.

Nick draws  attention towards the contemporary dialogue shared between digital and analog processes focusing on constructing portraits that alludes to the topic of identity and cyber culture. His work questions the nature of human life in the digital era while highlighting the omnipresence of the machine and put forward as a component in the scene.

QUOTES

“  By thinking about time, I found that old objects have a lot of history and charm … so I liked to take those objects and bring them to the present day.. maybe they have been forgotten, maybe we think they are totally useless .. but I like to incorporate them into my artwork. ”  Full interview .
