Friedrich Boell
Friedrich Boell explores the imaging properties of broken electronic devices. While they are overlooked when functioning, the material parts and properties of phones, tablests, and screens are in the center of interest for the artist. He discects them, manipulates them, and furthers distortion and distruction to explore visual and optical qualities.
He stages his findings in installations that show the technical and physical frameworks of digital imageries as image materials themselves. Set in series or grids, he renders visible the individual visual properties of mass-produced devices.
