Penelope Umbrico
In MONUMENT, Umbrico starts with the opinion that every day’s electronics are in effect “black boxes” whose contents are largely incomprehensible to end-users. Which I think is more of a fact rather than an idea.
Although we never see the workings of our technologies, almost everything we learn, we see and know these days is mediated through the filters of technology.
So she makes us think about it, by exposing their entrails in a way that makes us wonder about their use, their utility compared to what happens next, once they are no more needed.
