GUIDING INTERESTS
Candida Höfer is internationally well-known for her photographs of interior public spaces in absence of the public. Her pictures of museums, libraries, schools, zoos, etc. are of an abstract timelessness and open up a perspective that transcends the spaces‘ functionality.
QUOTE
“I take photos in public and semi-public spaces from different eras. They are spaces that are accessible to everyone. They are places of encounter, communication, knowledge, relaxation and recreation. There are spas, hotels, waiting rooms, museums, libraries, universities, banks, churches and, for some years now, zoological gardens. All rooms have a task, and the things in the rooms usually also have a task.” art-in.de Candida Höfer, accessed on 29.10.2020
